Visiorobotics at ECOC: the event dedicated to optical communications

We couldn’t miss one of the most important events in the industry

Last month, Copenhagen hosted the 30th edition of the European Conference on Optical Communication, attracting an impressive 8,300 visitors and more than 350 exhibitors from 73 different countries.
Visiorobotics contributed to the event by standing out as one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking companies in the growing photonics sector.

“We really couldn’t miss it,” explained Gabriele Galeazzi. “The three-day event in Denmark once again confirmed that ECOC is the largest annual conference in the Western world dedicated to optical communication, fiber optics, and related network technologies.
ECOC combines a large exhibition area with a continuous program of conferences (https://www.ecoc2025.org/), product focuses, panels, and demos.
Above all, it’s a great opportunity to meet the main players in the industry, discover new startups and emerging technologies, discuss trends and innovations, and—of course—build strong business connections and collaborations.”

This was your second year in a row sharing your experience in the field of photonics…

“Just like last year, we couldn’t miss it. Photonics is a constantly evolving field—one of continuous prototyping, testing, and experimentation.
ECOC once again proved to be the ideal environment to update both existing clients and new contacts on the results we achieved during 2025.
We showcased the solutions we’ve been developing, and how we’ve customized them to meet our partners’ specific needs.
We’ve already booked our space for next year’s event in Malaga: Spain’s growing investments in this field, together with Visiorobotics’ collaborations with local universities and research centers, make it an opportunity not to be missed.”

Were you able to visit and experience the exhibition, or did you stay mostly at your booth?

“Luckily, there were three of us, so we could take turns at the booth.
In the exhibition area, we welcomed many visitors, showed videos and products, and discussed new projects.
We also managed to attend a few conferences—mainly focused on process technologies and future developments rather than on machines themselves.
The most interesting part was meeting suppliers of materials, devices, and photonic assembly services—something Visiorobotics is also working on.
In particular, we made useful contacts with companies we might turn to for sample production.”

Did you see any particularly innovative solutions?

“Perhaps the CPO (Co-Packaged Optics), which promises better integration between photonic and electronic devices within the same package — improving transmission speed while reducing signal loss, overheating, and energy consumption.”

What’s your view on the current market trend?

“Meeting clients and networking were essential to understand the current level of standardization—still lower than many manufacturers would like.
This means there’s still plenty of room for growth, especially for companies like ours, which make customization a key strength.
As expected, Asian companies were strongly represented, confirming that the future of production will be increasingly in their hands.
However, Europe is gaining ground and recognition, especially thanks to its research centers and small to medium enterprises that invest in their own testing labs, convinced they can make a difference.
At Visiorobotics, we’re following our own path, and given the interest shown in our work, I’m very pleased with the outcome of the event in Denmark.”

Looking ahead to ECOC 2025, new contacts and industry feedback seem to make you optimistic…

“We received very positive feedback and strong encouragement to keep moving in the direction we’ve set.
Besides customization, we’ve always focused on close relationships with our clients—supporting them even after machine delivery, through assistance and adjustments for new production needs.
That’s something most companies don’t offer.
Among our upcoming innovations, one that could really make a difference is
Taskmaster, our customizable software that allows operators, thanks to its high configuration flexibility, to control the entire system and manage all devices.
I’ll be presenting it at the next IMAPS conference—and who knows, maybe it will also be one of the highlights of next year’s ECOC, alongside a demo product from our new fiber alignment line.
But that, as they say, is another story…”
